ACIDIC consists of lead singer and guitarist Michael Gossard, guitarist Michael Thompson, bassist Ted Dubrawski and drummer Matt Whitaker. Gossard, the band’s primary songwriter, has known Dubrawski since elementary school. The two started performing together in their high school rock band (Crespi Carmelite High School) before Gossard formed ACIDIC his freshman year. In 2008 Whitaker joined the group as the band’s drummer. Thompson, a sophomore at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, joined the band this year. Thompson has been playing guitar for four years, ever since attending a System of a Down concert, amazed at the ability of music to create connections between people. Dubrawski is an accomplished surfer, and enrolled in the prestigious Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where he’s studying to be a “luthier” - a craftsman who builds guitars. Whitaker is a sophomore at Loyola Marymount University. A cancer survivor, he beat childhood leukemia when he was seven. Gossard says of the tight-knit group, who travel together even when not on tour, “I never expected to be this close with my band mates. That’s not saying I didn’t want to be, but you would not believe it. We spend every day together.
