| Out of the floods and into the desert, New Orleans based band Adam's Attic persevered Hurricane Katrina's devastation in their quest to generate original, alternative music and will now play for the U.S. military stationed in Southwest Asia. The band will tour with Armed Forces Entertainment Jan. 20-Feb. 10 through Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Qatar, Djibouti, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
"This will be our third tour with Armed Forces Entertainment. Performing at each location, for each group of military personnel has been a unique and memorable experience," said Joe Henry, front man for the band. "Coming out of our own trials with the New Orleans disaster, we feel united by a deep understanding of the true American spirit that endures. Through our music and dedication we hope to bring that same feeling of hope to the troops in Southwest Asia.”
Growing up in military families, three of the five members of Adam's Attic know firsthand of the challenges faced by service members and their families. Joe and his brother Derek, who plays bass guitar, and drummer Scott Boaz became friends when their fathers were stationed at Naval Air Station New Orleans, known as Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans.
Out of respect and honor to the U.S. military, Adam’s Attic released their hit song "Autumn," a reflective anthem focusing on the families and loved ones left behind when troops answer the call of duty to serve their country.
“This band appeals to a variety of audiences and coming from military families themselves, they exhibit a true understanding of the hardships that military personnel endure," said Army Captain Trevor Garrett, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for Southwest Asia.
