Texas singer tips her hat to the troops in
concert series through the Pacific

Talented musician Bonnie Bishop tours with Armed Forces Entertainment

Austin, Texas-based artist Bonnie Bishop will perform for troops stationed in the Pacific on Feb. 26- Mar. 11. The country music singer-songwriter will visit Australia and Japan to entertain men and women serving in the armed forces.

“I know what it’s like to pick up and follow my dreams, but I can only imagine the sacrifice that military personnel make to live and work overseas--so far away from everything they know,” said Bishop. “My band and I see this opportunity as a perfect way to personally thank the troops for what they do for us each and every day.”

Although Bishop trained in opera, she grew up listening to the classic sounds of Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Bob Seger and James Taylor. Bishop’s love for music of all types inspired her to write songs and eventually tour with her own band.

“With such a rapidly growing fan base, it’s obvious Bonnie has really made an impact on her region. She recently released the song ‘Something the Doctor Didn’t Order,’ which made the top 50 on Texas Music and New Americana charts,” said Frank Tagatac, Armed Forces Entertainment Pacific regional coordinator. “Her sensational musical talent and dedication to entertaining will definitely make this star shine on stage when performing for the troops.”

While breaking into the Texas music scene as a female may be challenging, Bishop has continued to make her mark playing with known artists like Jack Ingram, Randy Rogers, Radney Foster and Ray Wylie Hubbard. In the last year she has doubled the amount of her performances by touring all over Texas and in major cities like Chicago, Nashville, St. Louis, Atlanta and Denver. Her other notable achievements include playing at Willie Nelson’s 4th of July picnic to a crowd of more than 30,000 people and visiting and performing in Texas prisons.
