| LA-based singer and songwriter Cindy Alexander will tour with Armed Forces Entertainment through the Pacific Jan. 4-27. She will perform for troops stationed in Japan, Okinawa, Guam, Kwajalein and Hawaii.
One of Amazon.com’s best selling independent artists, Alexander is dedicated to creating songs with depth and spirit. Her band has been together for 10 years and has opened or shared the stage with Edwin McCain, Joan Osborn, Dishwalla, Gin Blossoms, Joe Bonamassa and the Bacon Brothers (featuring Kevin and Michael Bacon).
“Touring with Armed Forces Entertainment is something I have always wanted to do,” said Alexander. “I’m so proud of the men and women serving our country and I want to be able to express that personally. AFE is giving me that opportunity, for which I am so grateful.”
Recently, Alexander won NBC’s StarTomorrow, an online version of American Idol in which viewers were able to vote for their favorite artists out of the top 100 bands chosen from the thousands that auditioned across the nation. The new title includes the opportunity to work with Grammy-award winning producer and songwriter David Foster in a development deal with a major record label.
“Cindy is a hardworking musical artist and songwriter with a lot of talent,” said Air Force Captain A. Semrau, Armed Forces Entertainment Pacific circuit manager. “Her music is inspirational and she demonstrates a firm desire to play a great show for the troops.”
Alexander has performed all over the U.S. and surrounding areas including the Barbardos Jazz Festival with Lionel Richie and Jill Scott. She played her largest concert for an audience of 14,000 at the Modesto X Fest in Modesto, CA.
Running her own record label JamCat Records has allowed Alexander to pursue her own creative direction, while developing herself as an artist and a music industry professional. Her recently released album, Angels and Demons, won the L.A. Music Awards 2006 Album of the Year award and she is currently working on her fourth CD, expected out in early 2007.
