New England band to tour with Armed Forces Entertainment for first time

The New England country band, Digger Dawg, will perform for troops stationed in Southwest Asia, March 11-29.  Since the group's formation in 2004, it has quickly gained a loyal following of fans with its infectious blend of new and traditional country mixed with classic rock and roll.  Digger Dawg has opened for top country performers, including Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Sugarland, Gretchen Wilson and Trace Adkins.

Touring members are Jenn Bostic, lead vocals; Joe Scopa, piano and vocals; Kenny Silva, guitar and vocals; Dustin "Copper" Jensen, drums; Roston Kirk, bass guitar; and Caitlin Nicol-Thomas, fiddle and acoustic guitar.  Most of the band members are students and/or graduates of the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Scopa says the band is thrilled to have the opportunity to perform for U.S. troops in Southwest Asia.  "The men and women stationed over there must be homesick. We can't imagine how difficult it must be to be so far away from your family and your home," he said. "We want them to take their minds off all that's going on around them for a couple of hours, enjoy the music and just have a good time."

"Digger Dawg is such a fun, high-energy group and they put on a great live show," said Army Captain Trevor Garrett, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for Southwest Asia.  "The band members have a terrific chemistry between them and they really know how to connect with the audience.  I know our troops in the Middle East will really get a kick out of this band."
