| Troops are getting exactly what they asked for as Edison embarks on its third Armed Forces Entertainment tour of the Mediterranean Dec. 1 – Dec. 10.
“Last year we sent Edison to Southwest Asia and they put on a really good tour,” said Marine Corp Capt. Jesse Davidson , Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for Europe. “They’ve got great music and everywhere they went the troops loved them. We’re sending them back because the troops keep asking for them.”
In an era when many groups fall victim to the trappings of copycat pop iconography, Edison remains true to the rock-n-roll spirit, delivering timeless, message-driven songs.
Lead singer and song writer Ethan Isaac, originally from Madison, WI., was contacted by Armed Forces Entertainment after submitting his song Gallop into the Sunlight.
“I was 25 blocks away from the trade towers the day America was attacked and I wrote that song about my experience,” said Isaac. “I was honored when Armed Forces Entertainment called and invited us to go on tour. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to play music and make a difference at the same time and there’s nothing more rewarding than playing for our troops.”
The New York City based group, released their first album 7 in 2005 and will soon release their first music video Fly, which was created from footage taken during the group’s first tour to Southwest Asia.
“It was such an amazing experience and we wanted to capture the experience in a way that could be shared with our fans,” said Isaac. “Hopefully, it will mean as much to the troops as it does to us.”
