| The high-energy band eight0eight will bring their spirit-raising sound to U.S. troops based in the Pacific, June 19 - July 19. This is the fourth time Armed Forces Entertainment has taken the popular Honolulu-based band on tour.
The globetrotting seven-member group performs an eclectic mix of rhythm and blues, jazz and contemporary dance tunes. The band's sound is often compared to the legendary R&B group, Earth, Wind & Fire. Eight0eight consists of three lead vocalists and four musicians (guitar, bass, drums and keyboards).
"We play all the old-school R&B favorites, but we throw in some new grooves," said lead singer Malcolm Rolsal. "We support our troops 1,000 percent and we want to provide them with a great evening of entertainment where they can relax and take their minds off some of the pressures they're under."
"Eight0eight never fails to put on a terrific show with high-energy music and great dance moves," said Frank Tagatac, Armed Forces Entertainment Pacific circuit regional coordinator. "They do a superb job of getting the audience totally involved. What's more, they make it a point to spend time with our servicemen and women while they are on the bases -- eating meals together, visiting and just hanging out. They bring a little bit of home to our troops."
