Evan Goodrow Band’s “feel good” soul music to get troops up on the dance floor

Boston-based, Evan Goodrow Band will be taking their funk-soul groove overseas to entertain troops stationed in the Mediterranean July 2-8. The band will be performing for military personnel stationed in Spain and Portugal. “We’re all about making music that feels good, “ explains Goodrow, lead vocals and guitar. “Soul music is ‘feel good’ music by definition, like when you hear old Motown classics or when that rhythm hits you, you can’t help but smile—that’s the feeling we hope to bring to these brave men and women that are so far away from their loved ones.” Goodrow, dubbed a soul-singing, blues-guitar-playing powerhouse by his fans, grew up listening to R&B legends Ray Charles and Solomon Burke. As a teen, Goodrow’s ever-evolving musical interests turned to the feverish guitar stylings of Jimi Hendrix and eventually led him to formally study jazz guitar. “Most of all, we’re honored to have this opportunity,” says Goodrow. “This is the best way we know how to do our part in supporting our troops and we’re really proud.” The Evan Goodrow Band was named Boston’s Best Blues Band in 2007 and has shared the stage with B.B. King and Jimmy Buffett. “EGB is a musically diverse group that makes music everyone gets into,” said Navy Lt. Jarod Trujillo, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for the Mediterranean. “Their stage presence is electric and Goodrow is a seasoned frontman who is an expert at getting people up on the dance floor.”
