| Bringing the old western sound of country music with a fresh new original edge from Nashville, Tennessee to the troops overseas, 2006 European Country Music Award nominee Carly Goodwin will launch her European Armed Forces Entertainment tour Sept. 6, performing at bases in Germany, Bosnia and Kosovo.
From singing duets with Willie Nelson to delivering a 15-mile-long letter of support to the troops in January during her Armed Forces Entertainment tour to Southwest Asia, Goodwin continues to reach new heights in her musical career. Deeply moved by the troops’ appreciation of her performance in Southwest Asia, Goodwin was determined to tour again bringing the message to them that America backs the troops.
“Carly is an outstanding artist and performer,” said George DeGralla, Armed Forces Entertainment regional coordinator for the European circuit. “The impact of her performances on the military audience is enormous because she truly connects with them. Her music relates directly to the their everyday life.”
Performing since she was eight years old, Goodwin continues to hone her musical abilities to reflect her passions and influences, which include legendary artists Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor. Goodwin’s support of the troops is motivated by her own family’s involvement in the military. She has several cousins who are currently serving in the armed forces.
“I believe that it is important to support our military and my goal is to demonstrate that value by uniting people through music,” said Goodwin. “Touring with Armed Forces Entertainment gives me the unique experience of performing, while maintaining the opportunity to sit down and talk with my audience.”
One of Goodwin’s greatest accomplishments as a singer has been to perform with Willie Nelson at the Farm Aid for 50,000+ people. Goodwin has been featured on a variety of national media outlets including: CNN, FOX News, NBC News, New York Times, Billboard, Music Row magazine, Country Weekly and local news shows throughout the world.
