Wild Gypsy to perform for military personnel in the Mediterranean

June 30, 2006 download story

Dedicated to entertaining our troops, Judi Richardson, lead singer for Wild Gypsy promises to bring down the house on their tenth Armed Forces Entertainment tour. Playing for more than ten years together, Wild Gypsy has performed in more than 26 countries and 49 states, and are scheduled to perform July 1-14 in Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Greece, Sicily, West Cyprus and Italy.

Richardson’s father, her number one fan, served in the Air Force for 24 years and encouraged her to follow singing as a career. Years later she is using the gift of song to make her own contribution to the military. She is grateful for every opportunity she receives to perform for military personnel and maintains that the band will play as long as they are requested.

“ Wild Gypsy is one of the most outstanding groups to play in the Mediterranean,” said Joseph Mennit, Armed Forces Entertainment regional coordinator for the Mediterranean circuit. “They are a highly requested group because of their musical diversity and lengthy performances. Judi’s talent is enormous, making the sky the limit for this gifted group of musicians.”

Wild Gypsy has been featured on Good Morning America, Live at Carnegie Hall, CMT, MTV, VH1 and Armed Forces Network. Other accomplishments include a performance for more than 42,000 people at the Holland Music Festival and coverage in USA Today, Rolling Stone and Country Music Today.

Despite their musical success, Richardson insists the band’s greatest achievement has been their ongoing tours through Armed Forces Entertainment. Nothing thrills Wild Gypsy more than coming together as a group to entertain the men and women that fight to protect our country.

“ Although I am an accomplished singer and have traveled all over the world, I would prefer to consider myself as an ambassador of goodwill and humanity,” said Richardson. “Music is the vehicle God has given me to share and connect with people.”
