| ARLINGTON, Va. – Singer, author, actor and monologist Henry Rollins will soon embark on his seventh USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour to provide a morale boost to troops stationed in the Persian Gulf region. Rollins will meet with service members, tour a variety of job posts and sign autographs.
Rollins’s past USO tour stops include Kuwait, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, Honduras, Japan, Korea and the United Arab Emirates. Best known for his alternative rock/punk music, Rollins began his career with hardcore punk pioneers, Black Flag. He toured and recorded with the group until they disbanded in 1986. The following year, he reappeared with the Rollins Band and recorded several successful albums. An accomplished spoken word performer, Rollins earned a Grammy Award for 1994’s “Get in the Van,” and will be performing both his spoken word work and his music on tour next year.
Rollins also ventured into acting and has appeared in several feature films, including “Bad Boyz II,” “Jack Frost,” “Johnny Mnemonic” and “Alibi.” He currently hosts “Harmony In My Head” on 103.1 radio in Los Angeles and is host of “The Henry Rollins Show” on the Independent Film Channel.
This tour continues the USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tradition of bringing celebrities to visit troops during the holiday season. Celebrities who recently participated in USO tours include Chuck Norris, Carrie Underwood, Drowning Pool, Bill Engvall, Craig Ferguson, Kathy Kinney and Shinedown.
