Armed Forces Entertainment takes alternative rock band on European tour

Hightower, a New York-based alternative rock group, will embark on their first Armed Forces Entertainment tour Dec. 27 through Jan. 2 when they perform for troops stationed in Belgium.

Hightower was formed five years ago by brothers Joel and Devin Kelley.  Joel's lead vocals and Devin's bass were soon enhanced with the addition of Jeremy Pierce on guitar and James Petercsak on drums.  Most recently, keyboardist Mike D'Amdrosio joined the group adding another element to the band's unique style.

The band's sound has been compared to Third Eye Blind and the Goo Goo Dolls and Sugar Ray.  Additional musical influences include U2, Our Lady Peace, the Rolling Stones and the Beatles.

“Hightower is a high-energy band that is known for rocking out, making them an excellent New Year’s show for the troops,” said Marine Corps Captain Jesse Davidson, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for the Europe circuit.

The group has gained a following in the Northeastern U.S. for their engaging performances, melodic harmonies and fresh song compositions.  They manage to blur the typical genre categories that define so many recent musical groups.  From their religious roots and Boston influences, to their Canadian style and British looks, Hightower is a culmination of diverse musical influences.

"We are really looking forward to this opportunity to bring our troops a little bit of home during the holidays," said Joel Kelley.  "They make so many sacrifices on a daily basis to protect their fellow Americans. We believe that entertaining them with our music is the least we can do to give back for all they do."
