| Hip Kitty will bring their hard-driving brand of rock and roll to U.S. troops stationed at military bases in Curacao, Puerto Rico and Honduras, December 30-January 8. The Nashville, Tennessee-based group will put on their electrifying show that combines classic rock covers with the group's original tunes.
Hip Kitty has toured extensively throughout the United States, from Florida to Alaska, performing more than 200 shows a year and establishing a loyal "Kat Krew" of fans in the process. They also performed monthly on Pleasure Island, Disneyworld in Orlando. The group has opened for numerous national acts, including Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, REO Speedwagon, Papa Roach, Tesla and Saliva among others. In 2004, the band released their first album, "Good Enough to Lick," and in 2007, they produced an EP titled, "Hip Kitty Live." The band's latest album, "The Art of War," was released earlier this year. Hip Kitty also has just recorded a single, "Aim to Kill Me,” which they are dedicating to the troops.
"We are so excited about this opportunity to perform for our troops," said Hip Kitty lead vocalist Jen Halverson. "We want to lift their spirits with our performances and bring them a little taste of home. We love playing music and want to share this with them through our interactive show."
Halverson is joined by Mike Goncalves, guitar/background vocals; Arick Seal, drums/background vocals; and Billy Neves, bass/background vocals. In addition to touring and performing, Hip Kitty also supports a variety of charitable causes, including the National Humane Society of America and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. In 2005, Hip Kitty received the Volunteer Humanitarian Award from the State of Ohio for their work on behalf of the Hattie Larlham Foundation, which provides services to severely disabled children.
"Hip Kitty puts on an incredible live show that never fails to connect with their audience," said U.S. Air Force Captain Jamie Fleischhacker, Western Hemisphere Circuit Manager for Armed Forces Entertainment. "Their innovative sound and high-energy stage presence turn every performance into one big party."
