The smooth jazz trio, Infinite Featuring Mr. Young, will bring their captivating sound to troops stationed in Southwest Asia, April 14 - May 6. Lead vocalist and keyboardist Marcus Young, age 24, will be joined by Geremy Wimbush, age 18, on drums and Brandon Frith, age 21, on bass. As an added highlight, Rhonda Coe will perform with the group as guest vocalist.
Young, who says he was "baptized in music before he was born," was raised in a musical environment where he learned to appreciate diverse musical genres at a tender age. His father is a musician and music teacher and Young grew up playing music in his church.
Young's debut album, "Sit Back, Relax and Listen to the Music," was released in December 2006. It includes the single "Back Home," which is a heartfelt tribute to American troops serving their country in far-flung locations around the globe.
"This tour is a great opportunity for us to give something back to our troops who are risking their lives for their fellow Americans," Young said. "We want to share our music with them and most, importantly, boost their morale. We especially look forward to performing "Back Home" for them."
Young has drawn on diverse musical influences as his personal style of music has evolved. He calls his music "Groove Jazz," and describes it as "pure, soulful music and inspirational songs infused with jazz rhythms." The talented singer, songwriter, composer and musician has performed with respected musicians such as Kirk Whalum, Marcus Miller and Steven Hurd.
"Although Marcus is known as a jazz musician, he has a diverse musical repertoire that includes reggae and contemporary pop songs," says Army Captain Trevor Garrett, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for Southwest Asia. “Infinite Featuring Mr. Young will appeal to a wide range of people because they play such an enjoyable mix of musical styles."
