Lansdowne tours Southwest Asia with Armed Forces Entertainment for first time

Lansdowne will take their edgy pop-rock sound overseas this holiday season for their first tour with Armed Forces Entertainment. The group will be playing for troops stationed in Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Kuwait December 23- January 4.

“We feel so blessed to be playing for the troops,” said Jon Ricci, lead vocalist. “We owe it to our soldiers to remind them of home, to let them know we honor and appreciate their sacrifices and efforts. We have the luxury of playing music because of the men and women that have dedicated their lives to keeping us safe at home.”

Lansdowne consists of Jon Ricci (vocals), Shaun Lichtenstein (guitars), Tom Sargent (bass), and Glenn Mungo (drums). Influenced by a wide range of bands like The Goo Goo Dolls, Stone Temple Pilots, and The Police, to singer/songwriters like Jeff Buckley and John Mayer, Lansdowne produces a sound that is full of infectious melodies, meaningful lyrics and energetic instrumentation.

“These guys are great, live performers and their shows really pack a punch,” says Army Captain Trevor Garrett, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for Southwest Asia.  “I know their energetic and dynamic performances are sure to lift spirits during this time of year when our troops are really missing home.”

Together since January 2006, Lansdowne’s debut EP, “Leaving Boston” sold out. Multiple tracks from the EP were featured on MTV, Fuse and WarpedTV.  With a successful follow-up sophomore release “ Burn This For Your Friends,” the band has quickly becoming one of Boston’s premiere live acts playing over 150 shows, including a recent 24-city national tour. They have shared the stage with numerous well-known acts including Wyclef Jean, Blessid Union Of Souls, Cute Is What We Aim For, and OK Go.
