Rising Texas star tours with Armed Forces Entertainment to Greenland

Hailing from Austin, the Lindsay Wynn Band will travel with Armed Forces Entertainment to Greenland performing New Year’s shows for the troops Dec. 27-Jan. 5. Her music is played on NPR stations in more than 80 cities nationwide and she was selected by Discmakers as one of the top 16 independent bands in the Southeast region.

"My father and both grandfathers served in the military at various times in their lives and I realize the sacrifice it takes for the troops to spend their holidays so far away from their homes and families," said Wynn.  "We hope to brighten their New Years with our show, bringing them a piece of home and thanking them for all of their sacrifices."

The band is comprised of talented musicians with diverse backgrounds including Lindsay Wynn, lead vocals and guitar; Richard Calderon, drummer; Isaac Berumen, guitarist and Chad Repsher, bassist. The band’s successes include opening for the B-52s, Gin Blossoms and performing at Sunfest (a festival in West Palm Beach) for an audience of more than 7,000 people.

“The Lindsay Wynn Band plays music with a lot of heart, blending together her appreciation for matters of real substance with a flow of smooth melodies,” said Marine Corps Captain Jesse Davidson, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for the Europe circuit. “The troops will appreciate her upbeat sound and positive messages, a true breath of fresh air for the New Year.”

During college, Wynn participated in a school-related exploration of several countries overseas. One of her life’s inspirations took place performing in a Vietnam village where she realized music could transcend language barriers and connect people. It was there Wynn’s solo music career began.

In 2004, the Lindsay Wynn Band released their debut CD “November Moon,” also the name of her hit single. That song reached number one on the jazz vocal charts in Australia’s largest music provider Mp3.com and in the International Music contest at Compo10.com.

Jackie Duke from Florida Beach Magazine had this to say about the rising star, “Her performance is pure entertainment and when you go home, you feel as if you made a personal connection with Lindsay Wynn. Her music is that honest.”
