April 13 , 2007 download story

Armed Forces Entertainment takes talented singer on first overseas tour

California-based singer and songwriter, Maren, will entertain U.S. troops in the Pacific with her dynamic fusion of rock and pop, June 19-July 19. Maren's unique sound is a blend of dramatic rock music and wide-ranged pop vocals that showcase fresh, honest lyrics.

"I am extremely excited to show my gratitude to all the troops that rely on their military instinct every day to protect our citizens and our country," said Maren. "I've wanted to give back to my country for a long time and this Armed Forces Entertainment tour provides me with the chance to do that in the best way I know how, through my skills as a performer."

Maren, who began her musical career as a solo artist, is now joined by guitarist Orlando Mestre, bassist Carl Buena and drummer Tyler Zarzeka. Maren and her band now perform regularly at such historic Hollywood venues as B.B. King's Blue’s Club, The Cat Club, The Viper Room, The Roxy, The Knitting Factory and The Keyclub, to name a few. Their music is influenced by Madonna, U2, Linkin Park, Veruca Salt, Guster and Lacuna Coil.

Currently, Maren is releasing her first solo album entitled Marenation. She has also been featured on NBC’s Star Tomorrow, XM Radio, MTV’s Laguna Beach and The Hills, among other television shows and print publications.

"Maren's distinctive voice, meaningful lyrics and captivating stage presence come together to bring her audiences a terrific show," said Frank Tagatac, Armed Forces Entertainment regional coordinator for the Pacific circuit. "Her musical talent and passion shine through in her performances."
