| The Planet Jane Band featuring Starla Marie will entertain U.S. troops in the Pacific with their diverse musical style April 17-May 14. The Top 40 band, which plays everything from Abba to No Doubt to Metallica, has gained a loyal club following in Hawaii.
"We are extremely proud to be able to visit our hard-working troops and provide them with a little taste of home," said Domingo Laranio, drummer for Planet Jane. "With our wide-ranging musical repertoire, we get the pulse of the audience and give them what they want to hear. We previously toured with Armed Forces Entertainment in 2002 and loved the experience of doing something for the brave men and women of our country."
Lead singer Starla Marie recently released her self-titled, debut CD that showcases her hip-hop and R&B ties. Planet Jane has played venues throughout Hawaii for the past seven years. In 2005, the band won the Mai Tai Rumble competition, a popular band contest held in Honolulu.
"Planet Jane and Starla Marie are an eclectic group with a wide range of tastes and influences," said Frank Tagatac, Armed Forces Entertainment Pacific circuit regional coordinator. “Their collection of songs features everything from heavy metal and disco to hip hop and R&B, offering something for everyone."
