| Matthew D. & Random Tuesday will bring their eclectic mixture of rocking original blues and innovative cover material to U.S. troops stationed in Southwest Asia, August 26-September 20. The popular Kansas City-based band is well known throughout the Midwest for their honest blues sound that features a backdrop of rock, country, jazz and gospel.
The group's music and stage presence draws on diverse influences like Elvis, B.B. King and James Brown. In 2006, Matthew D. Random Tuesday released their all-original, debut CD, "Notes from the Edge." It was recognized for its raw, straightforward blues-pop sound and exceptionally strong vocals.
The band's first and second Armed Forces Entertainment tours in 2006 took them to Greenland and the Caribbean/Central America. Lead singer and guitarist Matthew D. Ward was quickly hooked by the experience of performing for U.S. troops. "The best part of these trips, by far, is the chance to meet people who chose a career defending our country," Ward said. "I hope in some way we can serve our military by playing music. Our servicemen and women are simply amazing and I like to think of our tours as bringing them a kind of musical care package."
"Matthew D. and Random Tuesday is a versatile show band that has been captivating audiences throughout the Midwest since 2003," said Capt. Trevor Garrett, Armed Forces Entertainment Circuit manager for Southwest Asia. "Their energetic stage show offers up a great combination of strong lyrics, soulful harmonies and a catchy beat that leave you wanting more."
