The Redding Brothers Head Out to Southwest Asia

Rock group embarks on first Armed Forces Entertainment tour

The Redding Brothers will rock the troops in Southwest Asia when they set out on their first overseas tour with Armed Forces Entertainment April 29 - May 23.  Brothers Micah, Josiah and Gabriel, whose sound has been compared to Barenaked Ladies and Matchbox Twenty, got their start playing in small-town venues in West Virginia in 2003.  From there, they took their distinctive style of rock music on the road, performing at clubs and college campuses across the country.

The brothers, who grew up listing to their dad play Johnny Cash tunes on an acoustic guitar, developed their own brand of independent rock as they moved from Oklahoma to Seattle and back to their original home in West Virginia.  Along the way, they've performed with several national acts, including Sister Hazel, Gin Blossoms and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.

"We are really looking forward to playing for the troops in Southwest Asia," said Micah.  "We want to bring them some good American rock and roll. Our brother is in the Marines and he spent time in Iraq.  His experience is what got us interested in going over there to share our music with the men and women who are far from home."

The Redding Brothers have released two full-length albums on Brick & Stone Records.  The first, "Wisdom of the Green Shag Carpet," was released in 2005 and was followed by "The Physics of Immortality," released last year.

"The Redding Brothers have an honest, original rock and roll sound that I know our troops will enjoy," said Army Captain Trevor Garrett, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for Southwest Asia.  "Their concerts are really upbeat, uplifting and fun experiences for everyone in the audience."
