| The rap-rock duo Seminole County will perform for troops stationed in Japan, Okinawa, Guam, Korea February 6 - March 7. The tandem, consisting of female singer/rapper Jj and guitarist/pure sound vocalist Bryon J, formed four years ago in the Central Florida county from which it takes its name. Seminole County's sound is often compared to Linkin Park, Evanesence and No Doubt. The band’s first and self-titled album was released in 2005 and most their most recent effort, "Reasons," was released in Europe.
Seminole County's fresh rock melodies and rapid-fire vocal deliveries caught the attention of The Backstreet Boys management, who invited the duo to support the group on its 2005 "Never Gone" tour. Performing the tour soon built a national following, as the rising-star duo captivated fans with its impassioned rock-rap repertoire and unique musical talents.
"We are really, really excited about getting to perform for our troops stationed in the Pacific," said Jj. "Anything that we can do for them is a blessing for us. We want to give them a great show and let them have a couple of hours where they can just enjoy themselves and be entertained."
Jj, who began playing Pop-Warner football at age seven, got her start rapping when she played on the Noles High School varsity football team as offensive tackle. "We (the team members) would freestyle to get ourselves pumped up before games," she said. She was so good at this style of off-the-cuff rapping that her fellow players convinced her to start performing locally.
"Seminole County is a terrific band to tour with Armed Forces Entertainment because they deliver a captivating and hard-hitting live show that appeals to a wide range of musical tastes," said Frank Tagatac, Armed Forces Entertainment regional and circuit manager for the Pacific circuit. "Their fresh and powerful sound could very well be the 'next big thing' as they continue to attract attention from both fans and critics alike."
