| Detroit-based Shelby Brown will bring his smooth jazz sound to troops stationed in Japan, Korea, Singapore and Diego Garcia, January 29 – February 25. Brown is a popular alto and soprano saxophone player who has been at the forefront of Detroit's unique smooth jazz genre — a soul-infused blend of jazz and R&B. In 2003, Brown released his first album, "Miracle," which was followed up by his second CD, "No Boundaries" in 2005.
Brown is looking forward to his first tour with Armed Forces Entertainment and has arranged the show to provide a wide range of music to appeal to everyone. "I've always wanted to perform for the military because I remember how much I enjoyed USO shows when I was stationed overseas," said Brown. "I want to bring our troops a taste of home and a really good time. I want to impart a memory in them that they can look back upon and enjoy for a long time to come."
"Shelby Brown combines elements of jazz, R&B and gospel to create a smooth sound that is truly all his own," Frank Tagatac, Armed Forces Entertainment regional and circuit manager for the Pacific. "His music reflects Detroit's great musical legacy while exploring new territory in the smooth-jazz movement."
