Pop/funk band embarks on their first Armed Forces Entertainment tour

Tempe, AZ based band Sole Funktion will tour with Armed Forces Entertainment performing for troops stationed in the Mediterranean July 1-15.

“Playing for the military is a grand opportunity, in that we will be performing for one of the most appreciative audiences in the world, giving back to them in our own meaningful way,” said Keyboardist Michael Broyles. “The band can’t wait to rock out the July 4th show and bring a little American soul/funk to the men and women stationed in the Mediterranean.”

Sole Funktion has been together two years and combines a mixture of rock and soul music to create funk-blasted pop tunes. The band’s primary focus is to keep the audiences on their feet and dancing. Recently, Sole Funktion played at the Tempe Music Festival for more than 20,000 fans and opened for the John Mayer Trio. They have also been featured in Tempe, Arizona media affiliates such as Channel 13, CBS News, Fox News, Arizona Republic, ASU State Press and the New Times.

“We are grateful to be booking such enthusiastic and talented bands as Sole Funktion,” said U.S. Marine Corp Capt. Jesse Davidson, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for the Mediterranean. “Celebrating our nation’s freedom is always a momentous occasion for the troops and with Sole Funktion’s involvement at this year’s 4th of July celebration, these military men and women will have the opportunity to enjoy some great music, while honoring this day.”
