Sons of Bill to tour for the first time with Armed Forces Entertainment

Country-rock band, Sons of Bill, plans to bring down the house by jammin’ out for the troops along the Pacific Rim July 1-30.

The Charlottesville, Virginia-based band has been together since the fall of 2005 and was founded by three musically inclined brothers (all with a great respect for the folk and country music their father played for them growing up) who decided it was time to get together and make their own music.

The Wilson brothers: James lead singer/guitarist, Abe on the keyboard and banjo and Sam on guitar, were later accompanied by Seth Green on bass and Brian Caputo on drums.  Inspired by the music of Steve Earle and Drive-by Truckers, this group aspires to combine the beauty and tragedy of old country with the power and attitude of rock and roll. By fusing together the guitar rock sensibility of the early 90’s with a truly country sound, Sons of Bill puts a new edge on music.

Sons of Bill tours throughout Virginia and along the Atlantic coast. Selling out performances, the band has gained a loyal following. The group takes pride in reaching a wide demographic of fans, finding that at any given show such diverse crowds will all sing along together to their songs.

“We are so ready to play for the troops; this is such a fantastic opportunity to play for enthusiastic fans who deserve a great rock show more than anyone else we know,” said Seth Green. “From an early age, I’ve had absolute respect for the men and women that serve for our country-- especially those overseas. I feel honored to bring them some real down-home, rockin’ country.”

Their debut album, “A Far Cry From Freedom” is receiving radio play across the nation as well as in Europe. The group’s much-anticipated, second full-length album is tentatively scheduled to be released spring of 2008.

“Sons of Bill gets out there and really jams, they really put everything they’ve got into playing. I know the troops will definitely enjoy such a lively show, especially since these performers appeal to all types of audiences,” said Frank Tagatac, Armed Forces Entertainment regional coordinator for the Pacific.
