Stella Mira to groove with the troops in
Honduras and Puerto Rico

Armed Forces Entertainment takes popular Washington, D.C.
band on first overseas tour

The ambitious band Stella Mira will bring their eclectic mix of modern rock sounds, solid song writing and dynamic vocals to troops stationed in Honduras and Puerto Rico, Dec. 29 - Jan. 7. Stella Mira, whose name means "Wonderful Star" in Latin, has performed at many notable venues, including Washington, D.C.'s renowned 9:30 Club and New York City's famed Continental.

The Washington, D.C.-based group offers a rich collection of original material that is reminiscent of U2, Coldplay and Maroon 5. The band recently finished its first full-length album, "Between Now and Never," produced by Mark Sarisky, whose previous credits include Korn, Blues Traveler and the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

“This band’s diverse sound will definitely appeal to a broad range of military personnel,” said Air Force Captain A. Semrau, Armed Forces Entertainment Pacific circuit manager. “There is always a deep appreciation by the troops at these shows for those bands dedicated to entertaining and giving back to the military in lieu of spending time with family and friends during the holidays.”

Stella Mira grew out of a musician ad placed by lead vocalist Joe Ciani-Dausch, keyboardist Brian Rauer and bassist Steve Citarella in March of 2003. The ad drew ex-House of Bryan guitarist Sean Cranford and ex-Birinyi guitarist Mark Cookson who were soon joined by professional drummer Mark Lucas. Together, they quickly built up a broad spectrum of original material drawn from a wide-range mix of melodic contemporary rock sounds.

“This tour is a great opportunity for us to go overseas and play for our troops,” said Cinai-Dausch. “We look forward to bringing our servicemen and women a little taste of home, especially during the holiday season, because we know they’re missing home this time of year.”
