| Nashville-based acclaimed singer/songwriter Thom Shepherd will embark on his eighth Armed Forces Entertainment tour through Europe performing for military personnel stationed in Germany, Kososvo, the Netherlands and Belgium December 26-January 8.
“Playing for the troops has changed my life, inspired my music and reaffirmed my heartfelt gratitude to the men and women putting their life on the line for their country everyday,” said Shepherd. “It’s always an honor to perform for the troops and around the holidays is a critical time to reach out to remote military installations and show them our patriotic support.”
This tour marks Shepherd’s eighth time to travel with Armed Forces Entertainment and he will be accompanied on this tour by the Nashville Songwriters Band. Collectively Shepherd and the band have had nine No. 1 singles, six Top 10s, and their songs have appeared on over 65 million albums sold.
A passion for writing great songs has lead to two number one hits for Shepherd including, “Riding with Private Malone” and “Redneck Yacht Club.” He has also penned songs for Tracy Lawrence, Pam Tillis, George Jones, Buddy Jewell, Kevin Fowler, Blake Shelton, and Montgomery Gentry.
“As soon as Thom Shepherd and the Nashville Songwriters Band start playing their well-known country hits, the audience will go wild,” said Lieutenant Jarod Trujillo, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager. “Some good down-home country music and lively performances are always well-received by our audiences. Shepherd and the band will definitely be a hit, bringing a true ‘taste’ of home to the stage.”
An accomplished musician, Shepherd has opened for and shared the stage with some of country music’s biggest stars including Pam Tillis, Sammy Kershaw, Ricky Van Shelton, John Michael Montgomery and Keith Urban. He is co-owner of a publishing venture called The Bourbon Street Music Company, and co-president of RedneckYachtClub.com, a website that sells merchandise relating to the song and the boating lifestyle. He considers his greatest achievements in life to be his two children and recently conquering a second bout with cancer.
Shepherd’s latest CD is titled, Turning Point and has received critical acclaim.
