Armed Forces Entertainment takes up-and-coming band on tour

Santa Barbara-based Tripdavon will bring their original rock sound to U.S. troops stationed in Japan, Guam and Kwajalein September 18 – October 6.  In July, Tripdavon was selected as the 2007 Famecast Fenom winner in the rock category, beating out thousands of other acts.  The Austin-based Famecast Fenom is the first, online competition designed to find America's best new talent in rock, pop, hip-hop and other musical genres.

Tripdavon's members include Justin Fox, lead vocals; Greg Doscher, guitar; Adam Coons, guitar; Dave Heer, bass; and Russ Cummings, drums.  Each member of the band cut his chops in a distinct musical genre.  Cummings is a trained classical jazz drummer, while Heer comes from a funk background.  Doscher is a classic rock-inspired musician and Coons draws on his punk/heavy metal leanings.  Fox grew up under the influences of Motown groups and acts like Sting and U2.  The result is an innovative rock sound that is uniquely theirs.

Tripdavon recently completed extensive tours of Europe and the Eastern United States and looks forward to getting back on the road with their Armed Forces Entertainment tour.  "Getting the chance to go overseas and perform for the men and women serving our country is something that has always appealed to us," said Fox. "With all that's going on in the world today, we want to give them a few hours where they can take their minds off the pressures and enjoy some music from home."

The band's second album, "The Enlightened Operative," released in late 2006, was recorded by Dishwalla's Jim Wood and legendary producer Sylvia Massy Shivy (whose credits include working with Tool and the Red Hot Chili Peppers).

"Tripdavon offers audiences an incredible, live stage performance and their unique brand of honest, high-energy rock," said Frank Tagatac, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit and regional manager for the Pacific and Caribbean. "Even though they've been compared to acts like Incubus and Pearl Jam, their sounds has a fresh and original edge that's all their own."
