| Floyd VanLaningham and the Waterfront Band will bring their classic country sound to U.S. troops stationed in the Pacific region, October 3 – 29. This is the third time Armed Forces Entertainment has taken Nashville singer/songwriter Floyd VanLaningham on tour. In addition, he has toured with and opened for such country superstars as Darryl Worley, Travis Tritt, Marty Raybon and Merle Haggard.
Joining VanLaningham on the Armed Forces Entertainment tour are Nashville studio musicians Dr. Dave Burns, bass guitar; and Joe Cook, lead guitar/vocals. Rounding out the Waterfront Band is retired master chief petty officer Gary Bernhard on drums.
"We are really excited to be able to perform for our troops stationed in the Pacific and promise to put on a great show for them," said VanLaningham. "This is a way to give back just a little bit, because the sacrifices they make allow me to do what I love to do, which is write and perform music. It's a big deal that we don't take lightly."
VanLaningham recorded his second CD in Nashville, “Nice Guys Finish Last,” in 2003, which attracted widespread attention in country music circles. In late 2005, he was signed by Music Row Records.
In 2006, VanLaningham recorded his third CD, “Here I am.” He recently received national recognition when the CD’s single, “No Grave for the Flowers,” hit No. 2 on the Christian Country charts and led to a whirlwind year of touring throughout the United States and Japan. Earlier this year, he released his fourth CD, the autobiographical “I’m All Country,”
“Floyd's heartfelt songwriting comes from personal experience and his lyrics out and touch everyone in the audience,” said Frank Tagatac, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit and regional manager for the Pacific and the Carribean. "He's a terrific country singer and an even better songwriter."
