Armed Forces Entertainment brings the American Belles
to the troops in Puerto Rico

April 09, 2009 download story

Critically-acclaimed vocal trio, The American Belles, will perform their high-energy tribute to America for U.S. troops and their families stationed in Puerto Rico, April 21-25. The American Belles have performed at hundreds of military, veteran and civilian events throughout the United States and overseas but this will be their first time touring with Armed Forces Entertainment. Just a few of these performances include the most recent Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC, the Ellis Island Medals of Honor Ceremony on Ellis Island, the Liberty Mutual PGA Tour in Savannah, Georgia, and USO shows in Tokyo, Guam, and Hawaii.

Even though Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States, for many troops and their families who are stationed here, it is geographically far from home. That's why the American Belles are eager to bring their distinctive tribute to our country's proud military heritage and, with it, an entertaining taste of home.

"Getting the opportunity to perform for our troops is truly the most rewarding kind of entertainment we do," said Victoria Reed, founder of the American Belles. "We get just as much out of these performances as our military audiences do. It is a blessing for us to be able to perform for those who serve and protect us. They work so hard for us; it's the least we can do to put on an entertaining show for them!"

Reed also thinks the historical angle of their show is important for military families. "I believe that keeping the music of our children's grandparents' generation alive is very important. The music that represents the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War eras is such a part of our country's heritage. Our show is a patriotic salute to each of these eras -- and to today's military."

The troupe members going on the Armed Forces Entertainment tour are Sophia Hinshelwood, Annie Gane and Kathleen Watson. They will present a musical journey through the war years of yesterday to today with classic American songs and patriotic favorites.

"The American Belles never fail to enthrall their audience with their amazing harmonies, choreography and engaging stage presence," said Marine Corps Captain Jamie Fleischhacker, Armed Forces Entertainment Manager for the Western Hemisphere. "These talented and beautiful ladies lift the hearts and spirits of everyone who sees their show. They put on a captivating performance that will make you proud to be an American."
