Inobe (eye-no-bee)

Atlanta-based artist Inobe has been causing a stir with her unique blend of funk and soul.  Her style has been called “Billie Holiday-meets-funk-jazz”.  Inobe’s albums and supporting live performances have firmly established the soulstress in the burgeoning genre of neo-soul.

Inobe has performed in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Djibouti, Greenland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Korea, Okinawa, Guam and Kwajalein.  In mid-summer 2004 Inobe was a featured performer at the National Blacks Arts Festival and the Atlantis Music Conference with Tony Rich and Debra Killings.

In 2003, Inobe shared the stage with India.Arie, Ashanti, Nivea and Vivian Green at Atlanta’s Music Midtown Festival.  That same year, she also performed on the ASCAP/Smirnoff 14-city Southeast Tour, at the National Black Arts Festival, at the Heritage Arts Festival and at the African Festival of the Arts (along with Donnie, Kindred and Roy Hargrove). In April of 2003, Inobe appeared before an estimated audience of 400,000 viewers on Fox 5 Good Day Atlanta.  She has been featured as an opening act for Musiq Soulchild and Donell Jones.

Inobe’s albums selling steadily in national retail outlets such as Tower Records and internationally through CD Baby and CD Street.  Inobe has a very strong presence on Internet soul shops such as Dusty Groove in Chicago and Soul Brother Records in the U.K.  Using Internet distribution, she has garnered a European network of fans in the U.K., Netherlands, France, Sweden, Spain and Germany.  Her songs are being played on several radio stations in the United States and on several online webcast stations around the workd.

Inobe’s music has received larger-than-life attention.  The real-life entertainer and her music serve as inspiration to the fictional lead characters in Eric Jerome Dickey’s novels “Naughty or Nice” and “Chasing Destiny”.

“I write about things God has brought me through, but I also write to others’ pain and situations,” says Inobe.  “People like your music if they can stretch to identify with it, but they don’t fully understand or appreciate it unless your music stretches to identify with them.”
