Pomeroy

Pomeroy is an eight year old band of 5 from Kansas City. Born in a time when rap-rock and pop-punk ruled the scenes, Pomeroy had difficult choices to make early in their career. The band had a song that caught on to Midwest radio in the spring of 1999. It was a heavy song with a distinct robotic sounding rock riff and clever catchy rhymes. It fit right in with the whole rap-rock explosion. Fans began to flock to their shows overnight and Pomeroy began selling out venues they had previously struggled in. People loved the song and loved seeing the band live but began to realize a truth about Pomeroy; “These guys have much more to offer than this one song. In fact, none of their other stuff sounds like this song at all. It's funky. It's more musical. I can sing along to it. It's kind of hard to explain the sound…but I like it.”

The shows got bigger and the touring circle got broader. Then the labels came. While the band was cohabitating with mice, "borrowing" food from local restaurant kitchens, and cuddling up with bed bugs, they were fielding calls from Atlantic, Warner Bros., Sony, Universal, and a barrage of Indies. Every label had the same comment. "Wow, we really love your song. Why doesn't the rest of the album sound like that?" To the labels it was a no-brainer. Make a record where every song is just like your popular song and we can do business together. To the band it was a different story.

The next few years brought a heart full of happiness and a pocket full of lent. Their shows however, were becoming the talk of the Midwest. Pomeroy began landing opening slots for big national acts and moving up to headlining slots in bigger venues. The band put all of their energies into their live show with a goal to be the tightest band around. They wanted musical respect and were always the first to give respect to deserving acts.

So now we're here…and “here” is over 20,000 records sold and thousands of dedicated fans. Here is a touring circle of sold out dates from Denver to Chicago. Here is a new live DVD displaying the band in its most natural element. Here is a seasoned group of musicians in their prime, constructing a new album of unprecedented Pomeroy ability.

Some still see the band as it was in the spring of 1999. They still hear that one song. But those who do more than scratch the surface know the truth about Pomeroy. These guys are veterans of the stage who have a taste for the road and a finger on the pulse of the Midwest. They've created a musical point of view with no boundaries and unequaled energy. They are the soulful engineers of a most intriguing sound. Good bands change with the times. Great bands change the times. This, is Pomeroy.
