Take two brothers from the freezing cold steppes of Russia, hook them up with two wild and crazy Bengali dudes in L.A., throw in some inspiration from Nirvana and Tool and what you've got is a band called SLANT.

This highly unique L.A. based quartet really knows how to rock the house. Their melodic, yet edgy, sound has earned them an instant following in L.A. that's truly amazing. With Fahim Zaman on vocals and guitar, Munir Haque on guitar, Ilya Karpman on bass, and his bro, Andrew Karpman on drums, the place gets packed and starts to vibrate as soon as they climb on the stage.

This phenomenally unusual mix of international influences jells somehow into a sound that's completely original and clean. Fahim and Munir, are both from Bengali households. Brothers, Ilya and Andrew, came to the U.S. from Russia in '96. Andrew joined SLANT first; then, Ilya came in after a stint in the U.S. Marine Corps, turning in his M-16 for a bass guitar to round out the group in 2002. Recently, SLANT has completed their much awaited debut album, "A Thin Line," released in 2005 by Gotham Records. This very tasty CD features everything from hard-edged cuts like "Stuck" and "Broken Wings", to deeply personal and wrenching cuts like "Ambition" and "Trust."
