Maria Costa's Macho Men and Women Who Love Them

Watch out!!! This Cuban/Hungarian dynamo is on fire! Maria Costa is a super-talented actress/comedian who is establishing a new brand of comedy that is funny, sexy and brilliant. Here comedy concert “Maria Costa’s Macho Men and the Women Who Love Them”, shot live at the Kodak Theatre, is being distributed worldwide by Image Entertainment throughout stores across America and is launching a worldwide tour with the United States Armed Forces to entertain the troops. Maria and her “Macho Men” has packed theaters across the country by the thousands with this amazing masterpiece stand up performance which earned her an Imagen Award for Film: Best Solo Performance.

Maria is an Alma Award nominated Actress for her work in television. She has lit up the television screen with starring performances in several primetime television shows. She can be seen on Universal Remote currently running on Showtime and has also starred on ABC’s Ugly Betty, Joan of Arcadia on CBS, Lifetimes and Strong Medicine among others. She was a series regular star on the Bravo reality series The It Factor and the ABC drama Dangerous Minds.

A classically trained stage actress, Maria began her career starring in renowned theatrical productions like For Colored Girls Who Have Committed Suicide When the Rainbow Was Enough, Anthony and Cleopatra and The Colored Museum. As for comedy, Maria is no stranger to the stand-up and sketch circuit. She has headlined at the infamous Improv and the Icehouse, not to mention her numerous appearances in comedy festivals like The Latino Laugh Festival and the Big Stinking Comedy Festival. Through her performances at these comedic venues, she found the characters we know and love in Macho Men.

Maria also found inspiration at home, having been born to a Hungarian mother and Cuban father. Her grandmother, an opera singer and pianist from Hungary, and her Hungarian uncle took on the responsibility of raising her in Detroit, Michigan. “They did everything they could to understand my world. The very first thing that they did when they brought me home from the hospital was to run out to buy a hot comb”. Her uncle, an entrepreneur and pharmacist, taught her the value of persistence, a precious trait in a competitive world. “He taught me that every no is one step closer to a yes”.

Maria has taken his advice and applied it to her career in the entertainment industry. Often compared to entertainment philanthropist Tyler Perry, produces, writes and stars.
