Zach Williams & The Reformation

Once thought to be a regular occurance some thirty years ago, finding a soulful solid southern rock band in today's mix of hot bands has become nearly impossible. Claiming to be nothing but, Zach Williams and The Reformation continue to wow audiences throughout the world with a combination of alluring guitar riffs, soulful harmonies and personal lyrics that reach fans like no southern sound has in a long, long time. Having come from an area famous for its blues, soul, and rock, the band has never had a problem finding ways to influence every note of their songs. While continually expanding their solid fan base throughout the south, the band found themselves making huge waves ,across the waves of the atlantic on a near sold out European tour in early 2010. The throwback talent oozing from this five-piece rock band at various times remind listeners of the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd or The Black Crowes. Bassist Red Dorton says fans also compare them to the fictitious band Stillwater from the movie Almost Famous. In fact, it’s been said that ZWR look and sound like they stepped off a bus from 1975, and truer words have never been spoken.

ZWR released their debut, Electric Revival on April 7, 2009 and the buzz from this indie band started almost immediately with their combination of rock, R&B, soul and blues. Said Blurt Magazine, "….you’re gonna get a dose of pure, unfiltered rawk like your bellbottoms-clad mama used to sing to ya as a tyke." Billboard Magazine added, "instead of chasing the boogie in dazzling solos, ZWR puts its trust in the uncommonly well-crafted songs and leaves it to the inviting blues-rock voice of Williams to put them across."

And that voice, a hybrid of Joe Cocker, Chris Robinson and Greg Allman, is the driving force of ZWR. As the group’s soulful vocalist and primary songwriter, Williams has channeled the trials and tribulations of everyday life into the writing process. He also grew up watching his dad perform in classic rock bands, and when Zach received a ’67 Gibson Blue Ridge Custom from his dad as a gift, a proverbial torch had been passed.

Williams put a band together that consisted of some young but veteran players from the local scene, musicians like Robbie Rigsbee, Josh Copeland, Red Dorton and Creed Slater all of whom are capable of taking the stage to perform on their own. ZWR quickly became one of the best representations of a music long thought to have seen its pinnacle many years ago, however with their stunning debut album and as strong of a work ethic as you’ll find in an unsigned band, ZWR plans to keep moving so that as many people as possible can find a love for a sound so that feels so old but is definitely so new.
